Quick answer
An AI chatbot for a UAE business can cost anything from about AED 500 a month for an off-the-shelf tool to AED 100,000 or more for a custom agent connected to your systems. Most B2B companies that want a bilingual chatbot answering from their own content, on their website and WhatsApp, should budget roughly AED 15,000 – 60,000 to build, plus monthly running costs.
If you've searched for this already, you've probably noticed the published numbers make no sense side by side. One 2026 comparison found UAE guides pricing the same basic FAQ chatbot at AED 6,000–15,000, AED 12,000–25,000 and AED 150,000–275,000. Another agency found an AED 5,000–150,000 spread on the first page of Google.
The prices aren't random. They describe completely different products that all get called a “chatbot”. This guide separates them, shows what each costs to build and run, covers the UAE-specific factors (Arabic, WhatsApp and data protection), and helps you decide whether you need one at all.
The four kinds of “chatbot”, and what each costs
| Type | What it does | Build cost (AED) | Monthly running cost (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Off-the-shelf platform | A subscription tool you configure yourself or with light help, on your website or WhatsApp | 0 – 5,000 setup | ~550 – 1,100 platform fee, plus WhatsApp message fees |
| 2. FAQ bot on your own content | Answers questions from your website, brochures and PDFs, in English and Arabic, and hands over to a person when it can't | ~15,000 – 40,000 | ~500 – 2,000 |
| 3. Lead-qualifying or booking bot | Asks qualifying questions, books meetings, and sends leads into your CRM or WhatsApp inbox | ~35,000 – 90,000 | ~1,000 – 4,000 |
| 4. Custom AI agent | Connects to your ERP, inventory or internal systems, and takes actions such as checking stock, order status or creating tickets | 100,000+ | Custom |
Ranges drawn from published 2026 UAE pricing, including SleekFlow, Codingclave, Groovy Web and Nexus Labs. Excluding VAT.
For example, SleekFlow lists AI agent plans at AED 547 to AED 1,098 a month before messaging costs, and says UAE agencies quote AED 55,000 to over AED 1.5 million to build a custom agent from scratch. In between, one agency writing for UAE businesses puts a basic bilingual website chatbot at $8,000–15,000 (about AED 29,000–55,000) and a production chatbot with Gulf-dialect handling, WhatsApp and CRM integration at $20,000–45,000 (about AED 73,000–165,000).
Which one most B2B companies need: type 2 or type 3. A trading company, law firm or industrial supplier rarely needs an agent that takes actions inside its systems. It needs something that answers common questions accurately in both languages, captures the inquiry, and gets it to a person quickly.
When you see a very high quote for a “basic chatbot”, the agency is usually pricing type 4. When you see a very low one, it's usually type 1 with your logo on it. Both can be right. They're just not the same product.
The running costs nobody puts on the first quote
The build price is only part of it. These are the costs that show up every month:
- AI model usage. Every answer uses an AI model (from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and others), billed by usage. For a typical B2B volume this is usually modest, but it grows with traffic and with long documents. Ask for an estimate based on your expected number of conversations.
- WhatsApp fees. Meta charges per message for template messages your business sends. On Meta's UAE rate card from 1 October 2026, marketing messages cost about AED 0.21 each and utility messages about AED 0.06, before your provider's platform fee or markup. From the same date, your replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are charged too, after 1,000 free a month per number. Meta changes WhatsApp pricing often, so check the current rate card before you budget.
- Platform or hosting. Either a SaaS subscription or the cloud hosting for a custom bot.
- Content upkeep. The bot is only as good as what it knows. Every time your prices, services or policies change, its knowledge needs updating.
- Monitoring and improvement. Someone needs to read conversations, spot wrong answers and fix them. This is real work, and especially important in two languages.
One UAE guide, quoted by Nexus Labs, estimates annual upkeep at 25 to 40 percent of the original build cost. Whatever the exact figure, budget for running costs from day one, or the bot slowly drifts out of date and starts giving wrong answers.
What's different in the UAE
Arabic done properly
A bot that answers in English and passes Arabic questions through a translator will feel wrong to Arabic-speaking customers. Proper bilingual support means testing answers in both languages, handling Gulf dialect and mixed Arabic-English messages, and showing Arabic correctly right to left. Expect this to add to both build and testing time.
WhatsApp first
For many UAE businesses, WhatsApp is where customers actually message. A chatbot that only lives on your website may miss most conversations. If your customers already message you on WhatsApp, start there.
Data protection
The UAE's Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) covers how you collect and use personal data, including names, numbers and anything customers type into a chatbot. Free zones such as DIFC and ADGM have their own data protection laws. In practice that means:
- telling users what data the chatbot collects and why
- having a data processing agreement with your chatbot and AI providers
- knowing where conversation data is stored, since sending it to an AI service hosted abroad can count as a cross-border transfer
- not letting the bot collect sensitive data it doesn't need
Regulated businesses such as banks, healthcare providers and government-linked entities may need data kept inside the UAE, which narrows the choice of tools and raises cost. This is general guidance, not legal advice, so check your situation with a lawyer if you handle sensitive data.
What three typical UAE businesses might spend
These are illustrative budgets, built from the ranges above, to show how the pieces add up in the first year.
| Business | What they need | Build (AED) | Running (AED/month) | First year (AED) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trading company getting buyer questions on WhatsApp | Off-the-shelf WhatsApp platform answering common product questions and passing serious buyers to a trader | ~3,000 setup | ~1,300 including platform and message fees | ~18,000 – 20,000 |
| Legal or corporate advisory firm | Bilingual website bot that answers questions about services from the firm's own content and books consultations | ~25,000 | ~800 | ~35,000 |
| Industrial supplier with a large product catalogue | Bot that answers product questions, qualifies leads and sends them into the CRM | ~60,000 | ~2,500 | ~90,000 |
Notice how much the first-year cost depends on running costs. A cheap build with an expensive platform can cost more over two years than a custom build with low running costs. Always compare quotes over at least 24 months, not on the build price alone.
When a chatbot is worth it, and when it isn't
A chatbot makes sense when:
- You get the same questions again and again. Prices, availability, opening hours, required documents, delivery areas. If your team answers them dozens of times a week, a bot can take most of that load.
- Inquiries arrive outside working hours. International buyers in other time zones, or customers messaging in the evening, get an immediate answer instead of waiting until morning.
- You already have volume on WhatsApp. If staff are buried in WhatsApp messages, a bot can sort, answer and route them.
- Leads need qualifying before sales speaks to them. A bot can ask the three or four questions your team always asks first.
It's probably not worth it yet when:
- You get a handful of inquiries a week. Most B2B companies with low inquiry volume are better served by a clear contact form, a WhatsApp button and a fast human reply. Fix your website's conversion first.
- Every inquiry is complex and unique. If each conversation needs an expert, a bot adds a step without saving time.
- Nobody will maintain it. A bot that gives outdated answers does more damage than having no bot at all.
An honest test: write down the 20 questions your team answers most often. If a bot could answer at least half of them correctly from your existing content, it's worth pricing. If not, start with your website and contact path instead.
How to get quotes you can actually compare
Send every provider the same brief, then ask each of them these questions:
- Which of the four types is this? Make them name it. It's the fastest way to explain a price difference.
- Which channels are included? Website, WhatsApp, Instagram, or all of them?
- How does it handle Arabic? Can they show you real Arabic conversations from a past project?
- What does it learn from, and who keeps that up to date? Your website, documents, a product database?
- What happens when it doesn't know the answer? It should hand over to a person with the conversation attached, not guess.
- What are the monthly costs, item by item? Platform, AI usage, WhatsApp fees, hosting, support.
- Where is conversation data stored, and is there a data processing agreement?
- Who owns the bot, its content and the conversation history if you stop working together?
- What does the first month after launch include? Reviewing conversations and fixing wrong answers early is where most of the quality comes from.
A provider who can't answer these clearly is pricing something they haven't fully thought through.
FAQ
How long does it take to build an AI chatbot?
An off-the-shelf platform can be live in days. A custom bot on your own content usually takes a few weeks, and one with CRM or ERP integrations takes longer, depending on how ready your content and systems are.
Can a chatbot replace my sales or support team?
No, and in B2B it shouldn't try. Its job is to answer routine questions, capture details and hand serious conversations to a person faster.
Will it make things up?
It can if it's set up badly. A well-built bot answers only from your approved content, says when it doesn't know, and hands over to a person. Test this before launch.
Is WhatsApp or the website the better place to start?
Wherever your customers already message you. In the UAE that's very often WhatsApp.
Do I need a custom bot, or is an off-the-shelf tool enough?
Start with an off-the-shelf tool if your needs are simple and volume is low. Go custom when you need answers from large or changing content, proper Arabic quality, specific integrations, or control over where data is stored.
